Happy Learners High Achievers

Health and Safety

The Governing Body of Denholme Primary School strive to achieve the highest standards of health, safety and welfare consistent with their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and other statutory and common law duties.

Your child’s safety is of paramount importance to us.

Children should enter school in the morning via the entrances from the playground, or directly into the classroom (Years 1, 2 and Nursery).  These are closed at 8.45am. The point of entry after that time is via the Office. Children arriving late should be brought to the Office and signed in.  Any child leaving school for an appointment should be collected and returned via the office and signed out / back in.

During the school day all visitors are required to report to the office.  The whole of our school site is a non-smoking area.

The riding of bicycles, scooters, skateboards etc is not permitted within the school grounds.  Dogs are not allowed on school site.

First Aid and Medicines at School

Denholme Primary is welcoming and supportive of pupils with medical conditions. It provides children with medical conditions with the same opportunities and access to activities (both school based and out-of-school) as other pupils.

All medication must be handed into the Office along with a completed consent form.  Please see our Supporting Children with Medical Conditions policy in the policy section of our website.

We have trained First Aiders on site at all times throughout the school day.

If your child suffers from Asthma or requires an EpiPen please ensure your child has their medication in school at all times.

School Nurses

All children in Reception have their height and weight measured and their distance vision and hearing checked by the school nurse team. Children are then offered a height and weight measurement in Year 6 as part of the National Child Measurement Program (NCMP). You will be notified of this beforehand with the option of opting out.

You can contact the school nurse by ringing 01274 221203 and advising that you are a Denholme Primary School parent.
